Job Summary & Key Responsibilities
The Sessional Lecturer will teach a one-half credit, graduate-level course, HESA 5345 – Accounting and Financial Management in Healthcare in the Master of Health Administration program during the fall term (September to December 2026).
Course description:
The purpose of this course is to provide a basic understanding of management control techniques and management accounting decision making techniques and processes that exist for health administrators. The class will cover the following topics: an introduction to management control; financial statement and analysis; breakeven analysis; responsibility accounting; socio-economic aspects of budgeting; financial decisions and relevant costs.
Responsibilities include: all aspects of teaching and administering the course; course preparation including course content for lectures, test/assignments/exam preparation and evaluation/marking of student course work, as well as, providing tutorial support to students. The Sessional Lecturer is the Professor of Record for this course and reports to the Director of the School.
Qualifications/Requirements of Position
A graduate degree in financial accounting or management (MHA, MBA, PhD) and five years work experience, preferably in the health sector. Previous graduate-level teaching experience is a strong asset. Experience as a mid to senior administrator in healthcare would be viewed favourably.
