Job Purpose:
This position is responsible for assisting with the finishing of aluminum extrusion products throughout the facility.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work safely and efficiently in a high-hazard work environment.
- Perform general physical activities, including loading, unloading, pushing, pulling, lifting, and moving material by hand or with basic equipment.
- Accurately count pieces of material. After bundling material, record and complete daily production forms and lot tickets.
- Use a cut-off saw to cut wood for packaging.
- Train new Material Handlers.
- Perform general housekeeping duties in assigned work areas.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications:
The following are the minimum qualifications required to be considered for this role:
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience working in a manufacturing plant or similar environment.
- Basic computer skills, including the ability to use the EPICS material tracking system.
- Good interpersonal skills and an appreciation of cultural diversity in the workplace.
- Ability to read a tape measure using the metric system.
- Ability to follow written and verbal directions in English.
- Ability to pass internal workplace essentials skills test.
Physical Requirements: Frequent walking, standing, bending, twisting, repetitive motion and ability to lift, push, pull up to 22kg.
Working Environment: Exposed to a production environment which includes noise, moving machinery, forklifts and fluctuations in temperature.
Wage: $21.52/hour + Night Shift Premium – annual increases determined by the collective bargaining agreement (USW Local 7226).
