ORO Design & Manufacturing Ltd. is looking for an experienced and motivated CNC Laser Programmer to join our manufacturing team in Oro-Medonte, Ontario.
The Laser Programmer plays an important role in supporting the production of custom truck bodies and mobile equipment by developing, optimizing, and maintaining CNC laser cutting programs for sheet metal components. Working closely with Engineering and Production, this position is responsible for ensuring accurate parts, efficient material utilization, consistent quality, and reliable production flow.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with CNC laser programming, CAD/CAM software, sheet metal fabrication, and the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings. Three or more years of CNC laser programming experience is preferred; however, we also encourage candidates with less experience to apply if they demonstrate strong technical aptitude, CAD/CAM skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn and grow in the role.
Job Duties
- Create, modify, and optimize CNC laser cutting programs for sheet metal components using CAM software.
- Review engineering drawings to develop accurate manufacturing programs that meet production requirements.
- Create efficient nests to maximize material utilization and minimize scrap and production costs.
- Maintain and update existing programming documentation, revision control and manufacturing files to reflect engineering changes.
- Troubleshoot and modify laser programs to address production issues, improve cut quality, and reduce cycle times
- Collaborate with Engineering and Production to resolve programming and manufacturing issues.
- Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements to increase productivity, reduce waste, and improve quality.
- Utilize CAD software.
- Ensure standards for safe working conditions are maintained.
Employment Requirements
- 3+ years of experience programming CNC laser cutting equipment in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Experience with sheet metal fabrication processes is preferred.
- Proficiency with CAD/CAM programming software and CNC laser programming.
- Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes, including forming, welding, and assembly.
- Familiarity with ERP systems, manufacturing documentation, and revision control is an asset.
- Post-secondary education in Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, CNC Programming, Machining, or a related field is preferred.
- Candidates with less than 3 years of experience who demonstrate strong technical aptitude, CAD/CAM skills, and a willingness to learn are encouraged to apply.
- Experience with AMADA VPSS 3i software, including Production Designer, ABE Planner, Data Explorer, and Parameter Explorer, is considered a strong asset.
Pay: $24.00-$32.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
