Job Overview
We are seeking a dependable and experienced Long Haul Truck Driver to join our transportation team. This role involves operating heavy-duty trucks over long distances to ensure timely delivery of freight across various regions. Duties
- Safely operate commercial trucks over long-distance routes, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Transport freight efficiently from origin to destination, ensuring timely deliveries
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, including checking brakes, tires, lights, and fluid levels
- Secure freight properly using appropriate equipment such as straps and load bars to prevent shifting during transit
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, mileage, and cargo documentation in compliance with regulatory requirements
- Perform basic maintenance tasks or coordinate repairs with service providers as needed, including light automotive repairs or troubleshooting issues
- Operate heavy equipment such as forklifts for loading and unloading freight when necessary
- Assist with loading and unloading freight using forklift or manual methods, ensuring proper handling of cargo
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients regarding delivery schedules or any delays
Qualifications
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record
- Experience in commercial driving, especially long-haul routes preferred
- Knowledge of freight handling procedures and safety protocols
- Ability to operate heavy equipment such as forklifts and other industrial machinery is a plus
- Basic automotive repair skills for minor troubleshooting and maintenance tasks
- Familiarity with load securement techniques and regulatory compliance standards
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for accurate documentation
- Ability to work independently over extended periods and manage time effectively
- Physical capability to lift heavy loads (up to 50 pounds) and perform manual tasks as required
