Job Summary
The Senior Security Engineer ServiceNow is a senior-level engineer capable of advising Ulta Beauty in ServiceNow security best practices and will ideally have 3-5 years hands-on experience implementing, configuring, and securing ServiceNow applications, with a strong understanding of security best practices, governance, risk, and compliance (GRC), and platform security architecture. This role will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and deliver secure, scalable ServiceNow solutions aligned with organizational security standards.
Key Responsibilities
Act as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert on ServiceNow capabilities, platform governance, and security best practices. Define ServiceNow security and governance vision and strategy to align with enterprise goals and evolving business needs. Perform security assessments, gap analyses, and risk evaluations of current ServiceNow security configurations in both non-production and production instances Design, implement, and configure security solutions within the ServiceNow platform to address findings from all security assessments, gap analyses, and risk evaluations performed. Provide technical oversight to Ulta Beauty Application Security team and support project delivery across multiple ServiceNow workstreams. Collaborate with IT and business stakeholders to gather security requirements and design secure technical solutions. Develop and enforce security controls, roles, ACLs, and data protection mechanisms. Provide documentation, knowledge transfer, and end-user training as required. Stay current with ServiceNow releases, security trends, and emerging risks. Ensure compliance with regulatory and industry standards (ISO 27001, SOC 2, NIST, etc.).
Skill Requirements
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree or certifications preferred. 5+ years of experience in IT architecture, design, and development roles. 3+ years of experience designing and delivering security solutions on the ServiceNow platform. Deep expertise in multiple ServiceNow modules (e.g., ITSM, ITOM, HRSD, CSM, App Engine). Strong understanding of ServiceNow security model (roles, groups, ACLs, domain separation). Experience with scripting (JavaScript, Glide API, Business Rules, UI Policies). Experience integrating ServiceNow with third-party security tools. Knowledge of IT security principles, risk management, and compliance frameworks. Strong leadership and influencing capabilities, with the ability to drive alignment across diverse teams and levels. Experience in large-scale enterprise environments; retail or multi-business unit experience is a plus. Experience working in agile and DevOps environments. Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) and Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) certifications strongly preferred.
