Job Summary
The Talisman Building is seeking a skilled and dependable Appliance Technician to join our maintenance team. This full-time position is responsible for the diagnosis, repair, installation, and preventative maintenance of residential appliances throughout the property, ensuring that all equipment is operating safely and efficiently for our residents.
The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background, excellent troubleshooting skills, and experience servicing a variety of household appliances.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain residential appliances, including refrigerators, stoves, ovens, dishwashers, washers, dryers, and microwaves
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance to reduce equipment downtime
- Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues and determine appropriate repairs
- Install and replace residential appliances as required
- Read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics
- Test appliances after repairs to ensure proper operation and safety
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance activities, and parts used
- Manage inventory of common replacement parts and maintenance supplies
- Respond to resident service requests in a professional and timely manner
- Follow all workplace health and safety procedures and manufacturer guidelines
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience as an Appliance Technician or in a similar mechanical repair role
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation
- Proficiency in the safe use of hand and power tools
- Knowledge of residential appliance systems and components
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple service calls
- Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation are considered an asset
- Ability to lift and move heavy appliances and perform physically demanding work
