Your Opportunity at SECURE:
As Short Haul Driver at SECURE, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and timely transportation of waste between collection sites and client locations. You will operate a variety of commercial vehicles, including vacuum trucks, tractor trailers, flat deck trucks, and cube vans, on a Monday to Friday schedule, with opportunities for overtime and weekend work based on business needs.

Work Environment:
The Short Haul Driver role is structured as a Monday to Friday position, with overtime and weekend work as required to support operational needs.
A Day in The Life:
- Safely operate various Waste Management units, including vacuum trucks, flat deck trucks, cube vans, and other transport units.

Safely operate transport units in diverse weather conditions, including winter driving, and challenging work site environments.

Perform physical tasks such as unloading hoses used in vacuum and pressure washing operations, and rolling and maneuvering drums and other waste containers in accordance with safe handling procedures.

Conduct pre-, post-, and in-transit inspections of transport units and loads to ensure safe operation in accordance with Waste Management, jurisdictional, and NSC standards.

Ensure all loads are properly secured and comply with applicable weight and dimension regulations.

Complete and submit all required documentation in a timely manner, including logbooks, inspection reports, time tickets, manifests, bills of lading, trip records, and fuel and expense receipts.

Ensure all waste materials are properly labeled, inspected, and transported in accordance with TDG Regulations, including verifying manifests, recycle dockets, and bills of lading.

Communicate with customers regarding expected onsite arrival times and service requirements.

Work effectively in a team environment and participate in an on-call rotation to support after-hours and weekend operations.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
- Valid Class 1 Driver's Licence is required.

Minimum of 3 years of commercial driving experience.

Experience operating standard transmission commercial vehicles is required.

Experience operating vacuum trucks, tractor trailers, and cube vans is considered a strong asset

Knowledge of Canadian geography, highway systems, remote oilfield locations, and safe operation in challenging weather and site conditions

Strong understanding of Hours of Service, load securement, TDG regulations, and applicable transportation legislation

Ability to complete logbooks, trip records, inspection reports, waste manifests, and bills of lading in accordance with regulatory requirements

Ability to conduct pre- and post-trip inspections and perform basic vehicle maintenance, including greasing, air filter replacement, and brake adjustments

Experience using tire chains

Ability to perform physical work, including lifting, shoveling, and moving containers or other heavy materials

Strong work ethic with the ability to work extended hours, occasional overnights, and maintain Fit-for-Work requirements
