Nature & Scope:
Reporting to the Supervisor, Youth Recreation and Camps the Instructor will provide safe, quality instruction to meet the needs of participants.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and lead age-appropriate karate programming that is fun and inclusive
- Provide constant care and supervision of participants, ensuring safe and engaging programs
- Act in accordance with the YMCA Mission and Values
- Maintain a positive profile and relationships within the community
Qualifications:
- Criminal Reference Check (CPIC) including Vulnerable Sector Check completed not more than 120 days prior to date of hire, with results acceptable to the YMCA of Eastern Ontario
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C
- Minimum one (1) year of experience in the planning and delivery of recreational/sport education programs
- Strong sense of responsibility and maturity
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Intermediate belt level required (brown belt and up)
- Training in break falls, self-defense and pressure points an asset
- We run a Shotokan style karate program, however other backgrounds in martial arts are welcome (training in Shotokan will be provided)
