*This is a term position until June 30, 2027*
Walls to Bridges is a prison education program offered through the University of Winnipeg. This program connects incarcerated and campus-enrolled students to study together inside the prison walls, earning credit toward their degrees, and sharing academic and life experiences.
The Walls to Bridges (W2B) Coordinator is a part-time (5-10 hours per week) term role that will provide administrative support to the W2B Steering Committee, with the goal of strengthening the Winnipeg W2B program.
Responsibilities:
- Liaise with university registrar, the Education Department at Stony Mountain Institution (SMI), and W2B instructors to facilitate the approval of courses and communicate about changes in policy and emerging issues, problems, and concerns
- Research new grant opportunities, begin applications then circulate as needed to complete, maintain master copies of all applications.
- Prepare monthly work schedules, organize meetings of the Steering Committee, and report biweekly to the Chair.
- Assist with recruiting students by organizing promotional events and through circulating information about upcoming W2B courses to relevant academic departments.
- Maintain a contact list and regularly update the W2B Instructor Guideline.
Qualifications:
- At least 60 credit hours of postsecondary education.
- Some experience with written communication and word processing software.
- Word processing software: Microsoft Word, Pages, or some such other application.
- Familiarity with Excel or a similar application.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to communicate formally and respectfully via email.
- Organizational skills: the ability to plan the next month’s tasks and organize them in order of urgency, and to set up meetings with the Steering Committee
- Ability to research new funding opportunities and navigate grant application forms
An equivalent combination of education, experience, skills, knowledge and abilities may be considered.
Condition(s) of Employment:
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
The salary range for this position will be from $26.73 to $37.77 hourly.
Note: The work described in this posting will be conducted in-person, with an opportunity to apply for Remote Work for up to two (2) days per week.
