Job Summary: We’re hiring an Electrician to work with one of our clients in Aylmer in the steel manufacturing industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, installing, and programming electrical and automation systems, including PLCs, robotics, and production equipment!
Job Type: Full-time, permanent. 100% on-site.
Job Location: Aylmer, ON
Shift Structure:
· Day Shift = Monday - Thursday 7am-4pm, Friday 7am-3:30pm
· Afternoons = Monday - Thursday 4pm-3pm
Compensation Structure: $43.45/hour to start (or more if you hold dual tickets)

Responsibilities:
· Troubleshoot, inspect, test, repair, maintain, and commission electrical systems, controls, equipment, PLCs, and associated devices throughout the facility.
· Install, wire, modify, and troubleshoot both new and existing electrical equipment and production systems.
· Diagnose and program PLC-based automation systems for complex production lines, including Allen-Bradley, Siemens, and Beckhoff platforms, both on the shop floor and through remote support.
· Develop, modify, and maintain PLC programming structures and standards to support reliable and efficient machine operation.
· Program and troubleshoot PLC interfaces for FANUC robotics, MIG welding, laser cutting, robotic applications, and vision-assisted welding systems.
· Design and implement safe machine-control systems using safety PLCs and appropriate safety architecture.
· Program, troubleshoot, and maintain HMIs, VFDs, motion-control systems, and related automation applications.
· Support machine and plant communication networks, including Ethernet, IO-Link, and Profibus, to ensure reliable equipment connectivity.
· Develop and maintain data collection and archiving processes to support equipment monitoring, analysis, and continuous improvement.
· Use AutoCAD to support electrical and machine design activities, including reviewing, interpreting, and modifying technical drawings and documentation.
· Provide mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic support as it relates to electrical and controls systems, including conventional and servo-hydraulic applications.Perform preventative maintenance on electrical and automation equipment, identify recurring issues or design weaknesses, and implement improvements to enhance reliability and uptime.
· Investigate equipment downtime and operational issues to determine root causes and work collaboratively with Production to implement effective corrective actions.
· Work closely with production and maintenance team members to identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, productivity, equipment repeatability, and overall line performance.
· Assist with the development and updating of preventative maintenance procedures, work instructions, and best practices.
· Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment while ensuring all work complies with the Ontario Electrical Code, applicable legislation, company policies, and safety requirements.
· Provide guidance, support, and on-the-job training to apprentices, helpers, and assigned contractors.
· Participate in continuous improvement and cost-reduction initiatives and contribute ideas that improve equipment performance and operational efficiency.
· Maintain a professional and positive approach, demonstrating accountability, quality workmanship, and a commitment to supporting the broader maintenance team.
· Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Skills/Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent required.
· Certified Electrician with 3–5 years of relevant industrial experience.
· Previous experience working in a highly automated manufacturing environment.
· Hands-on experience with PLC systems and industrial robotics is considered an asset.
· Strong knowledge of the Ontario Electrical Safety Code and applicable electrical safety requirements.
· Experience with PLC troubleshooting, controls, equipment installation, setup, and commissioning.
· Ability to use AutoCAD to read, interpret, design, and modify machine and electrical documentation.
· Working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, gearboxes, conveyors, motor alignment, chain and belt drives, and overhead cranes.
· Familiarity with ISO/IATF procedures and quality standards.
· Ability to perform quality electrical repairs and preventative maintenance with minimal supervision.
· Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
· Self-motivated and able to take initiative while managing priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
· Willingness to continue developing technical knowledge and stay current with evolving manufacturing technologies and company requirements.
