We are currently seeking a talented individual to join the Student Support Services team. This position will support our Speech & Language Pathologists, following specific training. This educational assistant position provides blocks of support in the domains of speech, language and social communication development to Whitehorse students, both individually and in groups, in various schools. This assignment may also involve supporting, modelling, coaching and training a range of low-tech (e.g. communication boards) to high-tech (e.g. speech-generating devices such as Proloquo2Go, TouchChat) augmentative and alternative communication to school personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Please clearly demonstrate on your cover letter and resume, how you meet the following qualifications and experience:

Grade 12 graduation or equivalent;

Experience working with youth;
-
Post-secondary training in SLP Therapy Assistant, Special Education, Teacher Education, Early Childhood Education, Social Services or other related fields would be an asset.

Recent experience as a communication or therapy assistant, or as an education assistant, supporting the implementation of intervention programs designed to improve students’ speech, language, and communication skills would be an asset.

Recent experience, knowledge or strong interest supporting students and staff with communication technology from low tech (e.g. communication boards) to high tech (e.g. speech-generating devices such as Proloquo2Go, TouchChat) would be an asset.
