Position Summary & Purpose
The Home Support Transportation Driver provides transportation rides using the MSC van primarily to and from medical appointments to the frail, elderly and/or adults with physical disabilities. The Driver attends to client needs while they are in his or her care.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Complete daily vehicle pre‐trip and post trip inspections and maintain vehicle cleanliness.
- Pick up client at their home, transport to destination, and return home
- Be punctual and dependable in picking up clients at the scheduled time
- Provide support to clients as needed, including carrying and safely securing clients’ equipment at pick up and drop off locations.
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs
- Submit regular reports as required, reporting any unusual circumstances/concerns to the coordinator
- Respect client confidentiality
- Maximize safety through daily maintenance of the driver’s primary vehicle and ensure all necessary certification is current.
- Complete vehicle log sheets regularly.
- All other duties as assigned and delivery of service according to schedules.
- Maintain a professional image and attitude in regard to clients, visitors and co‐workers.
Job Requirements:
- Must have previous customer service experience with a good track record of assisting customers in a thoughtful, caring and timely manner
- Valid G license
- Exceed minimum age requirement of 25 years for insurance requirements
- Clear MTO Driver’s license search (no more than 3 demerit points)
- Valid insurance coverage of $1 million
- Must provide clear Criminal Record Search with Vulnerable Sector Screening
- First Aid/CPR certification is required (we will train and certify you if needed)
- Able to work with accessible equipment, i.e., wheelchairs, motorized scooter, walkers, mechanical lifts and Q-straint tie down system.
