Location: This position is based in Calgary, Alberta. This is a field-based position.
Hours: Full-Time Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week.
Position Overview: We are currently seeking a Drywall Service Technician to join our Calgary Warranty and Service team. The Service Technician’s main responsibility is to complete taping service and repair projects following the initial production phase. This includes, but is not limited to, small taping and board projects, trade damage repairs, warranty work, walk-through repairs and deficiencies after the first coat of paint is applied, and pre-occupancy appointments for final repairs before homeowner possession. An ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills, the ability to work independently, a commitment to maintaining a clean and organized work area, and a positive approach to contributing to a team environment. As a Service Technician, you will play an important role in delivering high-quality service to our clients through timely workmanship, strong communication, and professional relationships. This position offers a great opportunity for individuals looking to grow and apply their experience.
A qualified candidate will have experience in drywall service and warranty work, with a primary focus on taping repairs, and a general understanding of the full scope of drywall and insulation services, including insulation, boarding, and texture.
Responsibilities:
- Document daily activities and manage time using Ontraccr dispatch software.
- Complete service projects assigned by the Service Coordinator or Operations Leader in a timely and professional manner.
- Work collaboratively with the Service Coordinator, Operations Leader, and other Service team technicians.
- Ensure quality standards are met and correct any deficiencies missed during touch-ups or caused by minor trade damage.
- Assess damage and determine whether it is a GWI deficiency or a billable item.
- Continuously look for opportunities to improve business processes and practices and encourage others to do the same.
- Stay current on relevant construction and safety codes and regulations.
- Provide daily updates to the Service Coordinator to support timely job completion and billing.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Service Technician.
- Drywall taping background.
- Knowledge of the full scope of drywall installation and repair techniques.
- Strong attention to detail, quality workmanship, and the ability to work carefully to achieve high-quality results.
- Strong teamwork skills and the ability to give and take direction while working effectively with others.
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to organize materials, tools, and equipment to complete assigned work efficiently and effectively.
- Maintain a clean and organized work vehicle and report any required maintenance or issues.
- Basic understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and SharePoint.
- Basic understanding of dispatch software, preferably Ontraccr.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Relationship-focused, with a willingness to participate in team and client events.
- Reliability, punctuality, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract.
