Position Overview:
Reporting to the Community Outreach Lead, the mission of the Downtown Ambassador program, in partnership with Downtown Moncton Centre-ville Inc. (DMCI) and the City of Moncton, is to assist in creating a safe and welcoming environment to all who frequent the Downtown area; with an emphasis on residents, workers, tourists and the vulnerable population. The Downtown Ambassador provides a visible presence and serves as an information source to the public, local businesses, residents and other agencies/organizations.
License and full-time access to a personal vehicle are a requirement of the position.
Duties:
- Engage with local businesses and property owners to create positive relationships and address concerns within the scope of our organization.
- Establish positive working relationships with variety of people and organizations; including local area council of churches, non profit organizations, government, business community, and corporations in order serve those in need, as well as the educate and mobilize the community
- Work in partnership with Downtown Moncton Centre-ville Inc. (DMCI) and the City of Moncton to provide support and education to those accessing the Downtown core
- Develop and implement surveys in the field to better understand the needs
- Promote and attend DMCI and community programs/events when possible
- Distribute harm reduction supplies and provide education on safer use practices.
- Complete daily activity reports and other assignments as specified by supervisor
- Create, schedule, promote, and facilitate monthly lunch and learn sessions on topics related to homelessness, harm reduction, crisis response, and more
- Create a community liaison committee to meet and engage with business/property owners, non profits operating in the downtown core, government, and other relevant parties to address issues, concerns, and ideas for improvement related to Downtown Moncton
- Advocate for members and help reduce barriers to accessing services.
- Foster a sense of community and belonging through inclusive, member-driven engagement opportunities.

Skills & Qualifications:
- A criminal record check and vulnerable sector check are required as a condition of employment.
- Valid driver’s license with access to a vehicle full time.
- Standard First Aid and CPR Level C (or Basic Rescuer CPR) certification required.
- Able to work flexible hours.
- Bilingualism is an asset.
- Completion of a college or university program in Social Services, Community Support, Human Services, or a related field; relevant lived experience is also valued.

Pay: $24.00 per hour
