As we grow, we are looking for an Accounts Administrator to join our Edmonton team and help us maintain the financial accuracy that drives our operations.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounts Administrator to manage our accounts payable functions and support the overall finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing, coding, and processing invoices, completing check runs, and ensuring timely payments to vendors. You will also assist with month-end closing, resolve discrepancies, and provide support to internal business units. This is a hybrid position, offering a balance of office collaboration and remote flexibility.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment
- Sort, respond to, and distribute accounts payable mail
- Code and submit invoices accurately into the accounting system
- Maintain and update invoice trackers with relevant information
- Provide status updates to internal business units via the invoice tracker
- Complete weekly check runs
- Assist with month-end closing and complete month-end checklists
- Review Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) payments to ensure all vendors are paid correctly
- Respond to all vendor inquiries in a timely and professional manner
- Assist internal business units with accounts payable queries
- Ensure purchase orders are accurate and received in the system for processing
- Troubleshoot and resolve invoice issues and price discrepancies
- Follow up on invoice approvals and process accordingly
- Assist with internal processes and forward for approval as needed
- Review and process expense reports
- Route invoices on hold for resolution and assist procurement where needed
- Complete filing of documentation as necessary
- Provide backup support to Finance team members and other business units
- Adhere to and promote environmental, health, and safety policies
- Provide accurate and effective document preparation and records management
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma required; Accounting Degree or College Diploma preferred
- Previous experience in accounts payable or a related finance role
- Proficient in MS Office, specifically Excel, Word, and Outlook
- In-depth understanding of financial accounting principles
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow through on assigned tasks
- Ability to multitask and work well under limited supervision

WORKING CONDITIONS
- Normal office environment with hybrid work arrangements
- General hours: Monday to Friday, standard business hours
- Occasional longer hours during month-end close
