Southwestern Manufacturing Inc. operates in a competitive global market producing wide ranging metal-based assemblies and components across a variety of industry sectors including but not limited to Mining, Oil & Gas, Crane and Drag-line Components, Agricultural, Machine building, and Heavy Equipment Manufacturing.
Increased over the years, our extensive plant capacity developed to cater for our multi million-pound turnover, is spread across three facilities manned by over 150 employees. It incorporates shot blasting, stress relieving, fitting, welding, machining, non-destructive testing, final paint, right on through to our own logistics network, resulting in high value finished items across many diverse sectors delivered right to the customer's door.
Role Overview
Our company is seeking one individual who is reliable, punctual, and motivated to fill 3 month full-time Dz Licenced Driver position open with the possibility of an extension. We are looking for an individual who can proactively deliver parts and skids to and from Southwestern Manufacturing’s different facility locations. Someone who can conduct pick ups and drop offs at venders and to our customers in a safe and timely manner. This position includes mostly in town driving and occasional day trips to USA.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Delivering parts and products to and from facilities, venders, and customers.
- Unloading and loading parts onto and off truck.
- Driving to and from the USA for occasional day trips.
- Conducting daily circle checks prior to starting daily operations.
- Checking that all maintenance requirements are up to date frequently.
- Accurately filling out E-log / Logbook to indicate daily activity.
- Document and E-Log activity
- Knowledgeable on securing loads safely onto trucks by using straps, chains, ropes etc.
- Ability to manage time effectively
Requirements:
- Proven work experience as a truck driver
- Ability to drive long hours and travel regularly
- Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations (securing procedures, weight and size restriction)
- Load and unload trucks using appropriate equipment
- Clean driver’s abstract and CVOR
Education & Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 2 years of Flatbed commercial driving experience
- Valid DZ License
- Ability to submit updated driver's abstract
- Have a Fast Card ( Preferred)
- Manual operations
Working Conditions
- Shop environment with exposure to noise, sparks, grinding debris, and moving equipment.
- Regular lifting, bending, kneeling, sitting and standing for extended periods.
- Use of always required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and have an attention for detail to ensure tight deadlines are met.
