Location: Based in Vanderhoof, BC and serving Fraser Lake & Fort St James, BC
Hours of Work: 40hr/wk, Monday to Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm, unless otherwise required by programming or client service delivery.
37hrs/wk Vocational Employment Counsellor + 4hrs/wk Community Support Worker

Salary:
Vocational Employment Counsellor: $29.22 to $33.54/hour as per CSSEA & CSSBA Collective Agreement (JJEP Wage Grid Level 11)
Community Support Worker: $27.53 to $31.57/hour as per CSSEA & CSSBA Collective Agreement (JJEP Wage Grid Level 11)
Job Summary
The Vocational Employment Counsellor helps adults with developmental disabilities, Autism and FASD to achieve meaningful employment and greater independence. Working collaboratively with clients, employers and community partners, the successful candidate provides employment planning, job coaching, workplace support and advocacy to help individuals achieve their employment goals. This position includes a small Community Support Worker component to support client continuity.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Diploma in a related human/social service field required.
- Minimum one year of recent experience in employment services, vocational rehabilitation or community social services.
- Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, Autism and/or FASD is an asset.
- Strong communication, relationship-building and organizational skills.
- Must be sensitive to and respectful of clients with barriers to employment related to persons with disabilities, cultural differences, differences in socio-economic status and lifestyle diversity.
- Knowledge of Indigenous cultural safety and trauma-informed practice
- Intermediate Computer Skills (moderate understanding word processing, spreadsheets, databases)
Required:
- Valid class 5 driver’s license & satisfactory drivers abstract
- Criminal Record Check clearance
- This position requires union membership
