We strive to combine Italian and Canadian cuisines to create a variety of menus to suit all occasions and budgets.
Job Description:
The Italo-Canadian Club of Kingston is looking for a self-driven, passionate Chef with culinary experience in a variety of cuisines, including Italian. This candidate will be a team player able to efficiently manage kitchen operations, including kitchen staff. The Chef will ensure menus are kept current and priced appropriately. Must be available to work flexible hours to accommodate events scheduled.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Monitor stock and ensure supplies are purchased in a timely, cost-effective way.
· Check quality of food purchased.
· Manage kitchen operating costs efficiently.
· Work with Banquet Director to ensure menus and functions meet clients’ expectations while ensuring food requirements are managed without waste and staff costs are kept under control.
· Preparation of all food
· Collaborate with clients to create custom menus as required.
· Ensure great presentation by delicately dressing dishes and ensuring all dishes are served with the utmost care.
· Enhancing customer satisfaction is key.
· Submit kitchen staff requirements as needed: train new staff and provide proper supervision.
· Inspect kitchen facility and associated areas for cleanliness and for the functionality of the equipment. Report deficiencies.
· Ensure kitchen area, equipment and utensils are kept clean. .
· The chef/kitchen staff may be asked to assist the Banquet Director with set-up/tear down of events.
Requirements:
· Minimum 1-3 years professional cooking experience
· Experience in all cooking, especially Italian cuisine.
· Uses creativity in food preparation.
· Up to date Safe Food Handing certification.
· Culinary Degree is certainly an asset.
· Leadership qualities.
· Excellent communication skills.
· Ability to manage/work with people.
· Work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
· Knowledge of sanitation procedure standards and health codes
· Cleanliness, hygiene, and high-quality standards are of the utmost importance.
Pay: From $24.00 per hour
