Job Summary
The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for disassembly and reassembly of the equipment, machine, subassembly or production line assigned on a given shift, according to established procedures, following all safety protocols and workplace policies.
Key Requirements
- Dismantle portions of machinery as required for sanitation or other purposes
- Consult posted production schedule to determine the required configuration of the assembled equipment and production line
- Consult engineering documentation showing equipment component layout and configuration to ensure assembled production machine and line layout is compliant to documentation and production schedule
- Re-assemble the equipment and prepare the production line layout with the correct components’ configuration in a professional manner, following the procedures within the scheduled time window
- During re-assembly, conduct an ocular inspection of the parts and observe any sharp burrs; gouges that may harbor ingredients leftover during the sanitation process, torn or cracked gaskets, cracked welds, stripped internal or external threads, parts damage that may lead to the assembly unraveling or product contamination and inform your supervisor for any findings
- Document the activity and observations in the W/O report
- Ensure that fasteners are tightened to the correct tightness (Maintenance will specify)
- Complete necessary documentation / WO report after assembly as required
- Maintain work site in a safe, clean, and orderly manner, follow all the rules and regulations regarding safety and GMP at all times.
Health & Safety
- Conduct work in a safe and responsible manner
- Participate in all Health & Safety, GMP, and HACCP training as required
- Report any accidents, incidents, close-calls, unsafe/hazardous conditions to the shift supervisor
- Reported damage to equipment or property that could lead to unsafe/hazardous work, product safety or production loss
- Understand how and when to use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) that is required in the completion of the task in the prevailing environment
- Ensure compliance to OHSA, WSIB, MOL, CFIA regulations and or laws that govern Worker’s responsibilities in the Workplace.
- Ensure compliance to Tradition Fine Foods Safety Rules and Good Manufacturing Practices and HACCP programs
Qualifications and Working Conditions
- High School Diploma (GED) or equivalent
- Reasonable mechanical and electrical aptitude
- Good time management skills and work independently
- Ability to communicate (speak, read, write) in English
- Ability to read blueprints, configuration layout drawings and assembly/disassembly instructions
- Ability to work with chemicals and be able to read and understand WHMIS & MSDS information
- At least 2 years of relevant industry work experience
- Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures
- Ability to work at heights following the Ontario regulations
- Ability to work in a wet/dusty environment, lift 25kg
- Ability to work in temperature swings (hot/cold) and high humidity
- May be required to work in tight spaces/repetitive motions
