Overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Painter and Decorator to join our dynamic painting team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to transform spaces through expert painting, decorating, and finishing techniques. As a key contributor, you will bring color, texture, and style to residential, commercial, and industrial projects, ensuring each space meets high standards of quality and aesthetic appeal. Duties
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, filling holes, and applying primer to ensure optimal paint adhesion.
- Apply paints, stains, varnishes, wallpapers, and other finishes using brushes, rollers, spray guns, or other hand and power tools.
- Read blueprints and schematics to accurately interpret project specifications and design plans.
- Perform drywall installation, repair, and finishing to create smooth surfaces ready for decoration.
- Conduct restoration work on existing surfaces by stripping old paint or wallpaper and restoring damaged areas with precision.
- Use rigging techniques to safely access high or hard-to-reach areas during painting or decorating tasks.
- Maintain a clean work environment by organizing tools, disposing of waste responsibly, and ensuring safety protocols are followed at all times.
Skills
- Proven painting experience with a strong understanding of building materials and techniques.
- Proficiency in drywall installation, repair, and finishing processes.
- Experience with restoration projects involving surface preparation and refinishing.
- Skilled in painting across residential, commercial, and industrial settings.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings accurately.
- Familiarity with the use of hand tools such as scrapers, putty knives, brushes, rollers, caulking guns, and power tools including spray guns and sanders.
- Knowledge of rigging procedures for safe access to elevated or difficult areas.
- Strong carpentry skills for minor framing or repair work when needed.
- Excellent customer service skills to communicate effectively with clients and team members.
- Effective time management to meet project deadlines without compromising quality.
- Understanding of schematics related to industrial or commercial painting projects.
- Ability to perform caulking for sealing gaps around windows, doors, or fixtures for a polished finish.
