Trainer Positions Open at the Calgary Buffaloes Hockey Association Job Description: The Trainer role is vital due to the direct interaction and influence the successful candidate will have with our young athletes, coaching staff, and teams. Location: Calgary, with some travel around Alberta (dependent on team). Hours: Trainers must attend 2 games a week. Trainers are expected to be at games 30 minutes before scheduled game time and stay until all duties are completed. Depending on the team, travel might be required on weekends. Travel expenses are covered by the team. Regular season travel is within Alberta, with potential travel outside Alberta for tournaments. Duties: Provide first aid care to athletes (age range: 11 to 21). Manage risks by preparing Emergency Action Plans, collecting player information forms, and informing parents, coaches, and managers of injuries sustained during games. Perform pre-game taping, stretching, etc. Assess and manage injuries post-game, address parental concerns, and inform coaches of injuries. Refer players to appropriate medical and rehabilitation care. Follow up with players, parents, doctors, physiotherapists, other medical professionals, and coaches. When: Conditioning Camp starts in late August. Regular season starts in September and wraps up in March. Qualifications: Must be in at least their third year of a relevant university program (e.g., Kinesiology, Sports Medicine, Athletic Therapy). Completion of a course equivalent to KNES 371 (Principles of Injury Management) at the University of Calgary or ATTH 2505 (Prevention and Care of Athletic Injuries) at Mount Royal University. First Aid and CPR certification. Previous experience working with athletes is preferred. Hockey experience is an asset but not required. Reliable transportation to attend games is essential.
