Lead the Future of Early Learning in Southern Alberta
The Tri-Community Childcare Centre is a newly established not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing high-quality, affordable, and inclusive early learning and childcare services to families in Warner and the surrounding communities. As the Centre prepares to open its doors in Fall 2026, we are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced, and community-minded Level 3 Early Childhood Educator to serve as our inaugural Childcare Centre Director.
This is an exciting opportunity to help build and lead a childcare centre from the ground up, shaping programs, operations, and a positive culture that will support children, families, and the broader Tri-Community region for years to come.
Key Responsibilities
Childcare Operations & Leadership
- Provide overall leadership and management of the childcare centre.
- Ensure compliance with all provincial licensing requirements, regulations, policies, and standards.
- Develop and maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive environment for children, families, and staff.
- Recruit, supervise, mentor, and evaluate childcare staff.
- Lead staff scheduling and workforce planning.
- Build positive relationships with families and community partners.
- Address parent inquiries, concerns, and feedback in a professional and timely manner.
Program Development & Curriculum
- Lead the development and implementation of high-quality early learning programs.
- Ensure programming aligns with Alberta's Flight Framework and best practices in early childhood education.
- Support staff in planning engaging, age-appropriate learning experiences.
- Monitor program quality and continuously identify opportunities for improvement.
- Foster inclusive programming that supports diverse learning needs and cultural awareness.
Business & Administrative Management
- Manage the day-to-day business operations of the childcare centre.
- Oversee budgeting, financial tracking, invoicing, and reporting requirements.
- Manage registrations, enrolment, waitlists, and occupancy targets.
- Order and maintain supplies, equipment, learning materials, and food service requirements.
- Develop and maintain operational policies and procedures.
- Coordinate facility maintenance needs and ensure a safe operating environment.
- Prepare reports and updates for the Board of Directors.
Community Engagement
- Promote the childcare centre within the community.
- Build partnerships with schools, health services, local organizations, and municipalities.
- Support community events and initiatives that strengthen family connections and awareness of the centre.
Qualifications
Required
- Alberta Early Childhood Educator Level 3 Certification.
- Minimum three years of experience in a licensed childcare setting.
- Previous supervisory, management, or leadership experience.
- Strong knowledge of Alberta childcare licensing requirements and early learning best practices.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Current First Aid and CPR Certification.
- Clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.
Assets
- Experience managing budgets and business operations.
- Experience opening or expanding childcare programs.
- Knowledge of grant administration and government funding programs.
- Experience working in rural communities.
