Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated Heavy Duty Mechanic Apprentice to join our team. This entry-level position offers hands-on training and the opportunity to develop specialized skills in heavy equipment repair and maintenance. The apprentice will work closely with experienced mechanics to learn the ins and outs of maintaining and repairing a variety of industrial and construction machinery, including excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm machinery. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about mechanical work and eager to grow their expertise in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist in diagnosing mechanical issues on heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm machinery
- Learn to perform routine maintenance tasks including oil changes, filter replacements, and inspections
- Use hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment under supervision to repair and assemble machinery components
- Read and interpret schematics, manuals, and technical diagrams for troubleshooting purposes
- Support the disassembly and reassembly of industrial equipment during repairs or upgrades
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure safety and efficiency
- Follow safety protocols when operating heavy equipment or handling hazardous materials
- Participate in training sessions to develop skills in electrical systems, HVAC components, and mechanical systems
Experience
- Dealership experience or prior exposure to automotive repair is a plus but not required
- Familiarity with heavy equipment operation such as bulldozers, excavators, or cranes is advantageous
- Knowledge of mechanical systems including hydraulics, electrical wiring, and schematics is preferred
- Experience with welding, hand tools, power tools, or assembly work is beneficial
- Prior experience working with farm machinery or industrial equipment will be considered an asset
- Strong interest in maintenance, mechanical repair, or industrial technology is essential
- Customer service skills are valued for roles involving client interaction or support tasks
