We are looking for an experienced and reliable Senior Prep Cook to support the daily operations of our busy kitchen. This position is responsible for leading daily food preparation, ensuring recipes and production standards are followed, supporting and training junior kitchen staff, and maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on team leader who can work independently, manage priorities in a fast-paced production environment
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and complete daily kitchen preparation and production according to established recipes and production schedules.
- Prepare, portion, chop, slice, mix, cook, and assemble ingredients as required.
- Ensure products are prepared consistently according to recipes, portion sizes, and quality standards.
- Organize and prioritize prep lists to ensure production is completed on time.
- Assist with larger production tasks and support the kitchen team during busy periods.
- Identify potential production issues and communicate them to the team
- Provide day-to-day guidance and support to junior kitchen staff and kitchen helpers.
- Train new employees on food preparation procedures, recipes, equipment, sanitation, and workplace standards.
- Lead by example and maintain a positive, professional, and productive work environment.
- Ensure team members are following proper preparation and workplace procedures.
- Monitor ingredient levels and communicate low-stock items to the appropriate person.
- Assist with receiving, checking, storing, and organizing kitchen supplies.
- Follow proper FIFO (First In, First Out) practices.
- Monitor product usage and minimize food waste.
- Maintain an organized and efficient prep area.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.
- Monitor food temperatures and proper food storage.
- Maintain clean and sanitized workstations, equipment, utensils, and storage areas.
- Ensure proper handling of food products at all times.
- Follow company policies and applicable health and safety requirements.
Qualifications & Skills
- 2–3+ years of experience in a commercial kitchen, food production, or similar environment.
- Previous experience in a senior prep cook, lead hand, or kitchen leadership role is an asset.
- Strong knife skills and knowledge of food preparation techniques.
- Ability to follow recipes, production sheets, and portion-control standards accurately.
- Must be an excellent sandwich artist.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and make decisions within established procedures.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Food Handler Certificate is preferred/required as applicable.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and safely lift and move kitchen supplies and ingredients.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment.
Schedule Requirements
- Must be available for early morning shifts, with start times as early as 4:00–5:00 AM.
- Must be available to work weekends.
- Flexibility to work holidays and additional hours when required by production needs.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential due to the early production schedule.

Pay: $21.63 per hour
