What you will do:
- Prepare multi-stage construction estimates (conceptual, elemental, and detailed) in accordance with corporate estimating standards.
- Develop project-specific cost estimates to support Real Estate Committee approvals and Capital Expenditure submissions.
- Update and maintain standard model estimates and renewal cost benchmarks.
- Build, maintain, and continuously improve cost models, templates, and benchmarking tools.
- Analyze historical project data to identify cost drivers, trends, and opportunities for optimization.
- Perform comparative analysis for alternative design options and support value engineering initiatives
- Ensure accurate allocation of base building and leasehold costs across all tenders and estimates.
- Support tendering activities, including bid analysis, scope leveling, and subcontractor coordination.
- Assist Project Managers with subcontractor negotiations and construction management processes.
- Review, evaluate, and support validation of change orders.
- Conduct post-project cost analysis comparing actual vs. planned costs; document and report insights.
- Maintain and enhance cost databases and historical project records.
- Provide ad hoc costing support for prototype design changes and planning initiatives.
- Support strategic planning with current market pricing, escalation trends, and cost intelligence.
- Contribute to improving cost tracking systems, reporting tools, and analytics capabilities.
- Assist in determining replacement values for insurance and asset management purposes.
- Occasional travel may be required
What you bring:
- Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project documentation
- Demonstrated experience in construction project development methodologies.
- Proven ability to prepare conceptual and elemental estimates with limited design information.
- Advanced Excel skills (e.g., complex formulas, data modeling, Power Query; VBA an asset).
- Strong data analytics mindset with the ability to structure, interpret, and present large datasets.
- Naturally inquisitive — challenges assumptions and seeks continuous improvement.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; estimating software experience is an asset
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively engage cross-functional teams.
- Self-motivated, highly organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- 2–5 years of experience in quantity surveying, construction estimating, or cost planning.
- Degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or Building Sciences
- Membership or progress toward CIQS, RICS , or a comparable professional designation.
- Exposure to commercial or retail construction

Broadband Salary Range: 53,000.00 - 88,000.00 CAD Annual CAD Annual
Our typical hiring range is between 65,000 and 85,000 CAD Annual. Salary decisions are also dependent on other factors such as your experience, industry benchmarks, internal equity and other role-specific requirements. We're committed to attracting top talent.
