Job description
The duties of the Employee to provide services include, but shall not be limited to the following:
· Greet and call patients who have checked in at front desk and are ready for ophthalmologic work up prior to seeing ophthalmologist
· Obtain and record patient’s up-to-date medical history and medications at every visit
· Work up patient as per consult protocol
· Perform special ophthalmic tests for patients as requested by Ophthalmologist
· Ensure that all relevant prior diagnostic testing, lab results, CT/MRI or other medical reports have been uploaded into the patient’s chart before seeing the ophthalmologist
· Assist Ophthalmologists during examination and surgeries if needed
· Instill anesthetic drops and assist in laser treatments and minor procedures
· Clean, sterilize and maintain office equipment and surgical instruments
· Maintain the examination room clean, safe and organized
· Inform Physician about inventory that needs to be ordered
· Ensure efficient flow of patients through the day- try to manage waiting times
· Make sure that the computer has been logged into at the beginning of the day and logged out at the end
· Responsible for stocking and restocking drop samples in the rooms
· Responsible to ensure that all necessary drops, lenses, instruments, consent sheets are stocked appropriately in the ophthalmologist’s lanes
· Responsible for diagnostic work up of patients including OCT macula, nerve and visual fields
· Please ensure that patients are scheduled appropriately for testing so there are no excessive delays on the day of appointments.
- Escort patients from waiting room to the appropriate exam room and have them seated on exam chair
- Assemble required equipment in each exam room according to the appointment type
- Clean slit lamp and tonometer after each patient leaves or before next patient enters
- Ensure exam rooms remain stocked with all regular information sheets, supplies and equipment
- Clean used medical equipment
Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
