Job Summary:
O'Connor Electric is seeking an organized, proactive, and detail-oriented Tool, Equipment, Rental & Purchasing Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume construction environment and will play a key role in managing company tools, equipment, rentals, purchasing, and inventory.
This position is responsible for sourcing materials and equipment at the best overall value while maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and rental partners. In addition, this role will oversee the company's tool control program, ensuring field employees are properly issued, tracked, and held accountable for company-owned tools and equipment.
This is a hands-on position requiring daily interaction with suppliers, field employees, project managers, site supervisors, and internal departments. The successful candidate must be able to work independently, prioritize multiple tasks, and communicate effectively across all levels of the organization. This is a full-time, permanent position.
The primary job duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Equipment Rentals
· Coordinate all tool and equipment rentals for projects.
· Obtain competitive rental pricing and negotiate preferred supplier rates.
· Monitor rental durations to minimize unnecessary costs.
· Arrange delivery, pickup, and off-rent dates to maximize utilization.
Tool & Equipment Management
· Manage the company's tool and equipment inventory.
· Issue and track tools assigned to field employees, ensuring accurate records of all tool sign-outs and returns.
· Maintain a tool control system to monitor tool locations, employee assignments, and inventory levels.
· Coordinate the return of tools from completed projects and departing employees.
· Investigate missing or damaged tools and work with supervisors to resolve discrepancies.
· Schedule and coordinate routine maintenance, repairs, calibrations, and required annual safety inspections.
· Recommend replacement or disposal of obsolete or damaged equipment.
Purchasing & Procurement
· Source and purchase tools, equipment, materials, and supplies at the most competitive pricing while meeting project schedules.
· Process purchase orders accurately and in a timely manner.
· Source day-to-day material requirements for construction projects.
· Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
· Maintain current pricing comparisons for materials, tools, and equipment.
· Research new products and suppliers to improve quality, efficiency, and cost savings.
Compensation:
The Salary range for this position is $65,000 - $80,000 per year. This salary range is provided in good faith and represents our estimate for this position. Final compensation may vary based on a variety of factors, including candidate experience, skills, qualifications, and budget for the role.

Qualifications
· Experience coordinating equipment rentals and working directly with rental companies to source equipment, negotiate pricing, schedule deliveries and pickups, and manage rental periods is Mandatory
· Previous purchasing, inventory, and tool management experience in the construction industry is preferred.
· Strong organizational and time management skills.
· Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
· Proven ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with suppliers, vendors, and rental partners.
· Proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
· Experience with purchasing, inventory management, or ERP software is considered an asset.
· Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
· Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
