Line Cook

Position Type: Seasonal Full-Time

Location: Haida Gwaii

This is a great opportunity for a motivated culinary professional in a remote, team-oriented setting.

Duties and Responsibilities

Prepare ingredients for cooking, which includes chopping vegetables, cutting meat, and creating sauces and marinades.

Cook and plate dishes according to recipes and customer requests.

Ensure that all food is cooked to the appropriate temperature and is safe to serve.

Maintain a clean and organized workstation by washing dishes and wiping down surfaces.

Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient and timely service.

Follow all health and safety regulations, including proper food handling and storage.

Maintain a positive attitude and work ethic, even during busy and high-pressure situations.

Perform other related tasks as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations

Proficiency in cooking methods and procedures, as well as a solid understanding of knife handling skills.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and under pressure

Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team

Ability to read and follow cooking directions

Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays

Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects

Attention to detail and ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately

Positive attitude and willingness to learn and improve cooking skills

Training, education and experience

1 - 3 years of experience in a similar role cooking in a restaurant, hotel or resort

High School Diploma or equivalent required; a culinary degree is preferred.
