Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dependable Heavy Equipment Operator to join our growing team. We specialize in residential and commercial site servicing, excavation, grading, underground services, and earthworks throughout Ontario.
We are looking for a mature, safety-conscious professional who takes pride in their work, treats equipment with respect, and understands that quality workmanship starts with attention to detail.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate heavy equipment including excavators, loaders, skid steers, dozers, and other site servicing equipment.
- Perform daily pre-start inspections and complete equipment checklists accurately.
- Monitor equipment performance and immediately report any maintenance or mechanical concerns.
- Read and interpret site plans, grades, and elevations when required.
- Complete excavation, grading, trenching, backfilling, and other site servicing tasks efficiently and accurately.
- Work closely with supervisors and labourers to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and to a high standard.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Respect company equipment and ensure machines are cleaned and cared for at the end of each shift.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3-5 years of heavy equipment operating experience, preferably in site servicing, excavation, or civil construction.
- Strong understanding of safe operating practices and Ontario construction site safety requirements.
- Experience with GPS machine control is considered an asset.
- Ability to perform daily equipment inspections and complete maintenance checklists thoroughly.
- Reliable, punctual, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong work ethic with excellent attention to detail.
- Valid Ontario driver's licence with reliable transportation to various job sites.
Preferred Qualifications
The ideal candidate will also have:
- A good understanding of heavy equipment mechanics and the ability to recognize potential mechanical issues before they become major repairs.
- Experience performing basic maintenance such as greasing, fluid checks, track adjustments, and routine servicing.
- The ability to troubleshoot minor equipment issues in the field.
- Experience working around underground utilities and reading site servicing drawings.
