Aecon is on the search for Formwork JM Carpenters to join the DOW Chemical project in Fort Saskatchewan, AB.
Immediate start, orientation runs Tuesdays & Thursdays
Project: DOW FSP2Z
Location: Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta
Journey person rate $49.38/hour
Apprentice rate starting at $29.63/hour
Overtime: 8 hours/week. PAID WEEKLY
Schedule: 5x2, 6am start (4-10hour days & 1 8-hour day)
Extra overtime may be available
Retirement: 8.5%, Vacation/Stat Pay: 10%
Safety training available
LOA available to those who qualify
Requirements and Experience
- CSTS-20 & WHMIS2015 Certificate
- Fall Protection (ESC equivalent)
- Confined Space Entry Monitor (ESC)
- Experience as a Formwork Carpenter in an industrial construction environment.
- Proven ability to work independently and as a part of a team in a fast-paced setting.
- Ability to lift and work with materials weighing up to 25kg.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions and environments.
- Ability to take direction and work effectively as a team or alone.
- Have excellent communication skills
- Must have a strong understanding of industrial safety procedures and policies.
- Must be fluent in English, both written and verbal.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpreting and applying information found in drawings, specifications
- Undertaking the layout (selecting materials, planning sequences and methods of work, measuring and marking materials).
- Prepare, erect and remove structural formwork for concrete foundations, walls, columns, beams and shafts.
- Cutting and shaping materials and joining them with nails, screws, bolts or glue.
- Checking completed units to be sure they are level, square, plumb and the right size, shape and location.
- General carpentry such as framing, hoarding, doors and frames and other activities as assigned.
- Journeyperson will mentor apprentices respectfully and oversee their safety.
Candidates may be required to complete a pre-employment Drug & Alcohol screen and/or criminal record check.
