About Us
Janam’s Grill & Theka is a newly operated high-capacity restaurant in Brampton featuring Indian, Hakka Chinese, tandoori, chaat, and fusion cuisine. Our restaurant includes dine-in service, party rooms, patio service, and takeout/delivery operations. We are building a strong kitchen team focused on consistency, speed, cleanliness, and food quality.
We are currently looking for an experienced Line Cook / Line Chef who can work in a fast-paced commercial kitchen and handle multiple stations during busy service periods.
Job Summary
The Line Chef will be responsible for preparing and cooking menu items according to restaurant recipes and standards, maintaining a clean and organized station, and supporting smooth kitchen operations during service. The ideal candidate has experience with Indian and/or Hakka cuisine, understands food safety requirements, and can work efficiently under pressure.
Responsibilities
Prepare and cook menu items according to standardized recipes and presentation standards.
Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies before service.
Handle one or more stations such as wok, tandoor, curry, appetizer, fryer, or grill.
Ensure food is cooked and plated accurately and consistently.
Maintain speed and quality during lunch, dinner, and party service.
Monitor portion control and minimize food waste.
Follow all Ontario food safety and sanitation standards.
Keep the work area clean, organized, and sanitized at all times.
Label, date, and store food properly.
Assist with prep work including cutting vegetables, preparing sauces, marinating proteins, and organizing inventory.
Communicate effectively with other cooks, servers, and management.
Report equipment issues or low stock levels promptly.
Assist with kitchen opening and closing duties.
Requirements
1-3+ years of experience in a restaurant or commercial kitchen.
Experience with Indian, Hakka Chinese, Indo-Chinese, or tandoori cooking is a strong asset.
Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of food handling, storage, and sanitation procedures.
Ability to multitask and stay organized during busy periods.
Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Reliable, punctual, and professional.
Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 kg.
Food Handler Certification is an asset (can be obtained after hiring if needed).
