Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Home Support Workers to provide exceptional in-home care and assistance to clients with diverse needs. This role involves supporting individuals in maintaining their independence, ensuring their safety, and enhancing their quality of life. The ideal candidate will have experience in home and community care, assisted living, or long-term care settings, with a strong focus on patient-centered support. Prior experience with dementia, Alzheimer's, autism, or developmental disabilities is highly valued. Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Provide medication administration and monitor vital signs in accordance with care plans
- Support clients with meal preparation, feeding, and nutritional needs while adhering to dietary restrictions
- Perform light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning and laundry to maintain a safe and comfortable environment
- Observe and document patient condition, behavior, and progress; report changes to healthcare professionals as needed
- Utilize specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts or other assistive devices to safely transfer residents
- Support clients with cognitive impairments through memory care techniques and Alzheimer’s/dementia-specific care strategies
- Follow HIPAA guidelines to ensure confidentiality and privacy of client information
- Assist with transportation or accompany clients to appointments when required
- Maintain safety standards by recognizing potential hazards and adhering to safety protocols
Experience
- Prior experience in home health, assisted living, nursing homes, hospice care, or group homes is preferred
- Knowledge of patient observation, monitoring vital signs, medication administration, and care planning is essential
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, dementia, or Alzheimer’s is highly desirable
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is preferred; ongoing training in HIPAA compliance and patient safety is a plus
- Demonstrated ability to work compassionately with seniors or individuals with disabilities in a caregiving capacity
- Strong communication skills for working effectively with clients, families, and healthcare teams
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary and work independently while following established care protocols
