Responsibilities:
- Assist the optometrist in conducting preliminary tests and assessments.
- Prepare patients for examinations by gathering medical history and explaining procedures.
- Perform diagnostic tests including tonometry, visual field testing, and retinal imaging.
- Educate patients on eyecare procedures, contact lens insertion and removal techniques, and proper eyewear maintenance.
- Assist with fitting and dispensing contact lenses and eyeglasses.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of examination rooms and equipment.
- Handle administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, verifying insurance coverage, and processing payments.
- Provide outstanding customer service by addressing patient inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally.
- Answering phone calls and booking appointments.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification or training as an Optometrist Assistant is a plus.
- Previous experience in a healthcare or customer service role preferred.
- Knowledge of eyecare terminology and procedures is beneficial.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with patients and team members.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
