Plastic Shredder / Grinder Machine Operator
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and technically minded Plastic Shredder / Grinder Machine Operator to join our production team in Strathroy. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating automated machinery used in the recycling and processing of plastic materials. This role goes beyond manual labor; you will monitor integrated conveyor systems and utilize PLC control panels to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous line operations.
Responsibilities
- Equipment Operation: Operate plastic shredder and grinder machinery safely and efficiently to process plastic materials according to production specifications.
Qualifications
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in heavy manufacturing, automated production, or recycling operations is highly preferred.
- Technical Savvy: Direct experience or high comfort level working with PLC control panels and automated machinery interfaces.
- Equipment Knowledge: Proven familiarity with conveyor systems and industrial size-reduction machinery (shredders/grinders).
- Certifications: Valid Forklift certification is a strong asset.
- Physical Ability: Physical stamina to stand for extended periods, monitor continuous production lines, and safely perform lifting tasks up to 50 lbs.
- System Automation: Monitor and adjust PLC panels to maintain optimal machine performance, track throughput, and respond to automated system alerts.
- Material Flow Control: Manage automated conveyor systems to ensure a steady feed of material and safely clear mechanical blockages or jams.
- Loading & Handling: Load plastic materials into shredding/grinding machines utilizing material handling equipment or forklifts when required.
- Maintenance & Upkeep: Conduct routine inspections of equipment to identify maintenance needs (such as blade wear), performing basic troubleshooting and machinery cleaning.
- Safety & Protocol: Follow all safety guidelines, including strict adherence to Lock-out/Tag-out (LOTO) procedures during equipment upkeep.
Pay: $23.00-$27.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
