Who We Are
MintVision is an independent boutique optical practice in Oakville, 13 years in the community. We carry premium designer & independent eyewear (Tom Ford, YSL, Persol, Morel, Dolce & Gabbana, Celine, Chloé, Miu Miu, and more) and we take the whole experience seriously, from the exam through to the right frame on the right face.
This is not a chain. You'd be the optician on our floor, working directly with the owner, optometrist, and staff, with real say in how the store runs. We're looking for someone to build with as we grow. If running your own location one day is something you think about, we should talk.
Who You Are
Required: Registration with the College of Opticians of Ontario. Applications without a current registration number won't be considered.
An experienced optician who cares about craftsmanship and the patient experience more than volume. You want somewhere your clinical knowledge and your styling instincts both matter. You're comfortable owning a floor rather than being handed a queue, and you'd rather work closely with a small team than be one of twelve.
Schedule
Full-time, 32 to 40 hours per week. The store is open seven days, and this role works a set five-day schedule that includes Saturday and a shorter Sunday shift, with two consecutive weekdays off. You'll have a consistent weekly schedule rather than a rotating shift.
Some evening shifts are part of the role. Weekend availability is required, so please only apply if that works for you.
We're flexible on how the week is structured for the right person.
Pay
$65,000 to $80,000 per year total, made up of base salary plus performance commission. Base is determined by experience and fit.
What You'll Do
Patient care and dispensing
- Own your patient flow start to finish: measurements, fittings, adjustments, follow-through
- Recommend lens designs and solutions for each prescription and lifestyle
- Work alongside our optometrists and our owner-optician, and lead the floor independently once you're comfortable with our workflows
- Familiarity with practice management software and in-house edging is a plus, not a requirement
Sales and styling
- You initiate. You read what someone's wearing, ask a few questions, and pull three frames you actually believe in rather than walking them down the row
- You have opinions about shape, colour and proportion, and you can make the case for a frame someone wouldn't have picked for themselves. Selling up is a consequence of getting it right, not a script
- You meet patients coming out of the exam and carry them through the full purchase. You know the clinical side well enough to speak to lens options, coatings and upgrades with confidence
- You're comfortable when someone pushes back on price or wants to think about it. You can explain what they're paying for without discounting or getting defensive, and you know the difference between a real objection and hesitation
Operations and admin
- Work with our lead optician and the team on job flow: placing orders, tracking lab turnaround, verifying incoming jobs against the Rx, and calling patients the day their glasses land. You're accountable for your own patients' orders start to finish
- Phones and appointment bookings
- Basic insurance claims and admin. Small team, everyone contributes
