Overview
We are seeking an experienced Commercial, High-Rise Residential, Institutional & Industrial Painting, Wallcovering & Coatings Estimator to join our growing team in Mississauga.
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for painting, wallcovering, epoxy flooring, traffic coatings, specialty coatings, firestopping, caulking, and related finishing systems. Working closely with General Contractors, suppliers, and internal project teams, you will prepare tender submissions, develop cost estimates, coordinate pre-construction activities, and help secure profitable projects throughout Ontario.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience estimating commercial construction projects, exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple tenders in a fast-paced environment while consistently meeting deadlines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Analyze project plans, specifications, drawings, and related documents to determine the scope of work, required materials, and project requirements.
- Prepare accurate, detailed, and competitive cost estimates for painting and coatings construction projects.
- Utilize PlanSwift, estimating software, Microsoft Excel, and other industry-specific tools to develop comprehensive estimates and quantity takeoffs.
- Review contracts, drawings, and specifications to ensure compliance with project requirements and client expectations.
- Prepare complete bid proposals outlining project costs, schedules, scope of work, and deliverables.
- Maintain accurate records of estimates, bid submissions, project documentation, and correspondence.
- Follow up on bid opportunities and maintain communication with clients regarding submitted proposals.
- Coordinate awarded projects by working closely with project managers, suppliers, subcontractors, and field personnel.
- Order project drawdowns, material samples, and other required documentation as needed.
- Monitor, follow up on, and coordinate site instructions, change orders, and project updates throughout the estimating and project execution process.
Skills & Requirements
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience as a Painting and Coatings Estimator or in a similar construction estimating role.
- Proven experience preparing detailed construction estimates using PlanSwift and other estimating software.
- Strong knowledge of painting, coatings, construction methods, materials, building codes, and construction management principles.
- Knowledge of products from Benjamin Moore, Sherwin-Williams, PPG, Sika, Tremco, BASF, and major wallcovering manufacturers.
- Strong knowledge of wallcovering estimating, including quantity takeoffs, roll yield calculations, pattern matching, waste factors, material ordering, and installation methods for commercial and institutional projects.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, Teams, and other Microsoft 365 tools.
- Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem solving skills with the ability to perform accurate quantity takeoffs and cost calculations.
- Ability to read, interpret, and analyze technical drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
- Familiarity with project management concepts, documentation, and coordination processes.
- Highly detail oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.
- Strong teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate effectively and build confidence among colleagues and clients.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform accurate quantity takeoffs and material calculations for painting, wallcoverings, epoxy flooring, traffic coatings, and specialty coating systems.
- Calculate wallcovering roll quantities, pattern repeats, waste factors, and material requirements to ensure accurate pricing and procurement.
Pay: $48,000.00-$55,200.00 per year
