Overview
We are seeking a skilled Banquet Supervisor to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing banquet and catering events, ensuring guest satisfaction, and managing banquet staff while maintaining high service standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assign and prepare staff for event roles, including setup, reception, service, and teardown.
- Provide leadership, coaching, mentoring, and training to banquet staff.
- Support the development of new team members by providing hands-on training and shadowing opportunities during event setups and service.
- Conduct pre-shift meetings, reviewing BEOs, menus, event details, service expectations, and allergy information.
- Ensure staff adhere to company dress code, grooming standards, and service expectations.
- Assist with recruitment, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, and performance management of staff.
- Hire, train, and onboard new employees, ensuring all required onboarding documentation and employee packages are completed and submitted to Human Resources in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with the culinary team to plan and execute banquet, catering, and special events.
- Coordinate floor plans, server sections, food service, and event timelines to ensure smooth operations.
- Assign opening and closing duties, monitor completion of checklists, and hold staff accountable for maintaining operational standards.
- Oversee buffet and banquet setups and ensure event spaces are prepared according to client expectations.
- Monitor food presentation and quality standards, ensuring all dishes leaving the kitchen meet company expectations.
- Promote exceptional customer service and respond to guest concerns in a professional and timely manner.
- Resolve client complaints within scope of authority and escalate issues when required.
- Maintain high standards of health, safety, cleanliness, and sanitation in all service areas.
- Stay informed about menu items, ingredients, preparation methods, and customer allergen requirements.
- Complete or delegate post-event reports and ensure they are submitted accurately and on time.
- Prepare detailed reports on events, operational outcomes, and client feedback.
- Organize, track, and submit employee labor hours for payroll processing through the company payroll system.
- Assist with maintaining staffing schedules and ensuring events are adequately staffed.
- Communicate schedules and event details, including BEO information, to all team members in a timely manner.
- Attend meetings, communicate operational updates, and follow up on outstanding questions or action items.
- Conduct monthly inventory counts and assist with financial reporting.
- Monitor and maintain inventory of banquet supplies, disposables, plateware, cutlery, linens, furniture, and equipment.
- Maintain accurate inventories of venue assets and event equipment, including kitchenware, plateware, linens, tables, chairs, and other banquet supplies.
- Monitor front-of-house inventory levels and communicate purchasing requirements as needed.
- Identify special inventory requirements for upcoming events and coordinate with appropriate team members to ensure all necessary supplies are available.
- Monitor office supplies and coordinate replenishment as required.
- Assist with planning and executing off-site catered events.
- Respond to event inquiries, answer guest and client questions, and coordinate venue tours and site visits.
- Work closely with the marketing team by collecting event content and supporting social media and promotional initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with management, administrative staff, and other departments to ensure consistent service quality.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
