The Whispering Pines / Clinton Indian Band (WPCIB) is one of the seventeen bands within the Secwepemc territory. Traditionally from the Clinton area, WPCIB membership includes ancestral lineage from both the Pelltíq’t te Pésellkwes (People of the White Earth/ Kelly Lake) and Steke’7ús (People of the Little Hanging Bridge (Big Bar)). As a Band we are committed to serving our community and membership as well as building a future that upholds our Ancestral responsibilities.
The Water Operator contributes to the safety of the WPCIB community by performing regular water testing and maintaining safe water quality. The Water Operator supports maintenance work on water systems and assists with special projects seeking to improve water services for the community.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform regular water testing in water treatment system, reservoirs and wells.
- Calibrate equipment and adjust chemical levels as needed.
- Maintain accurate records and produce reports.
- Collaborate with the Circuit Rider and follow their directions in appropriate water system operation and maintenance.
- Assists with projects related to the community water system(s).
Qualifications
Required
- EOCP (Environmental Operators Certification Program) Level 1
- WHMIS certification (or willing to obtain).
- Advanced computer skills (MS Office).
- Criminal record with vulnerable sector check.
- Valid driver’s license (BC Class 5) and satisfactory drivers abstract.
Preferred
- Previous experience with municipal water systems.
- Formal training in water or wastewater systems.
- Valid certification in First Aid/CPR.
- Experience working within First Nations communities.
Pay: From $31.48 per hour
