Discovery Playhouse Children’s Society in Pitt Meadows is seeking a Support Staff member to work alongside our Education team and provide individualized support to children with special needs in our Preschool program.
This position begins on September 9, 2026 and concludes on June 23, 2027, with an approximate schedule of 25 hours per week. The role follows the SD42 school calendar, including Pro D Days, Christmas Break, Spring Break, and all other district‑scheduled closures. Outside of these designated non‑instructional days, additional vacation time cannot be accommodated.
Compensation:
· $23.50 per hour plus 4% in lieu of vacation
Requirements:
· Criminal Record Check
· ECE(A) Certificate
· First Aid Certificate
· Experience working with children who have additional and developmental needs
Candidate must have experience working with the following:
· Supporting children with additional and developmental needs through individualized, responsive care
· Collaborating with staff to implement and follow each child’s outlined care plan
· Designing and adapting activities to meet the unique developmental needs of individual children
· Building positive, trusting relationships with children, families, and team members
· Demonstrating patience, empathy, and a non‑judgmental approach to all interactions
· Bringing enthusiasm, positivity, and a strengths‑based mindset to daily work
· Contributing effectively within a team environment through clear communication and collaboration
Pay: $23.50 per hour
