ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a Streetlight Design Supervisor to lead our Street Lighting Design team in delivering municipal and transportation infrastructure projects across Calgary and surrounding communities.
This role combines technical expertise, project oversight, and team leadership, with responsibility for ensuring high-quality street lighting designs that meet City of Calgary, ENMAX, CSA, and industry standards.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
As part of our team you will do:
TEAM LEADERSHIP
- Lead, mentor, and develop Streetlight Designers and CAD Technicians.
- Assign and manage project workloads and priorities.
- Support recruitment, training, and performance development.
DESIGN & TECHNICAL OVERSIGHT
- Review and approve street lighting designs, calculations, and project deliverables.
- Oversee roadway, intersection, pathway, and municipal lighting projects.
- Perform and review photometric analysis using AGi32.
- Review pole loading assessments and utility attachment feasibility.
PROJECT DELIVERY
- Support project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
- Coordinate with municipalities, utilities, contractors, and internal teams.
- Conduct and oversee site visits, field investigations, and meetings with clients, utilities, contractors, and other project stakeholders as required.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
QUALITY & COMPLIANCE
- Ensure compliance with City of Calgary, ENMAX, CSA, and applicable lighting standards.
- Maintain quality assurance and quality control processes.
- Identify opportunities to improve design practices and team efficiency.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 5 years of street lighting design experience
- Experience leading or supervising a technical design team
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and AGi32
- Experience with pole loading analysis (SPIDAcalc or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of overhead and underground electrical distribution systems
- Experience coordinating with municipalities, utilities, and project stakeholders
EDUCATION & CREDENTIALS
- Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related discipline.
- P.Eng. (APEGA) preferred.
- E.I.T. candidates actively pursuing P.Eng. designation are encouraged to apply.

WORK ARRANGEMENT
This is a primarily remote position based in the Calgary region. Occasional travel within Calgary and surrounding areas is required to support client meetings, stakeholder coordination, field investigations, site reviews, and project-related site visits.
This role offers flexibility while maintaining opportunities for in-person collaboration with clients, municipalities, utilities, contractors, and project teams as needed.
