We have an exciting career opportunity for a Senior Financial Analyst to join our Atlantic Controllership team and support the Atlantic Business Unit.
Reporting to the Atlantic Controllership group, you will partner closely with business leaders and finance colleagues to provide accurate, timely and insightful financial analysis and support. You will work directly with business stakeholders, including senior leadership, to help explain financial performance, strengthen forecasting and budgeting, and support sound financial decision-making.
This role is based in Halifax and is particularly suited to someone who is proactive, highly organized and comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy. The position also provides an opportunity to contribute to process improvements and special initiatives while developing broader business-partnering experience.
Your future duties and responsibilities
- Analyze financial results for an assigned group within the Atlantic Business Unit, providing clear explanations of performance, key drivers, risks and opportunities.
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes by developing well-supported financial plans and assumptions and partnering more closely with business stakeholders throughout the process.
- Partner directly with business leaders to understand operations, identify financial drivers, provide guidance and constructively challenge assumptions.
- Manage and analyze project and client financials, including key contractual terms, financial implications of changes and related accounting impacts.
- Support month-end activities and analyze balance sheet accounts and supporting entries to maintain accuracy, completeness and balance sheet integrity.
- Communicate financial results and insights directly to business stakeholders, including VP-level leaders.
- Identify and implement improvements to financial analysis, processes and reporting to increase accuracy, efficiency and decision support.
- Dedicate time to special projects and continuous-improvement initiatives that create additional value for internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate with finance colleagues and business stakeholders to resolve financial issues and support business decisions.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
- Post-secondary education in accounting, finance or a related field.
- 3+ years of relevant experience, ideally in financial analysis, controllership or finance business partnering.
- CPA designation or currently progressing toward a CPA designation.
- Strong accounting and financial-analysis capabilities, with the ability to translate financial information into clear business insights.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate financial results directly to senior business stakeholders.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and demonstrated aptitude with ERP and financial systems.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple requests in a dynamic environment.
- Demonstrated autonomy, initiative, accountability and attention to detail.
- Proactive approach to identifying issues, proposing improvements and driving work through to resolution.
- English communication skills appropriate for working with business stakeholders across the organization.

CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $55,000–$110,000. This role is an existing vacancy.
