Job Overview
Cutting Edge Hockey Development Centre is looking for an energetic, dependable and knowledgeable Hockey Coach/Skills Instructor to join our team.
The successful candidate will work with players of different ages and skill levels in private lessons, small-group sessions, camps and team-training programs. We are looking for someone who communicates well, demonstrates skills effectively and creates a positive, challenging environment for every player.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced player or coach who is passionate about skill development and helping young athletes improve.
Responsibilities
- Lead private, semi-private and small-group hockey training sessions.
- Teach skating, puck control, shooting, passing and other fundamental hockey skills.
- Plan and deliver organized, age-appropriate drills and practices.
- Provide clear instruction, demonstrations and constructive feedback.
- Adapt training sessions to each player’s age, ability and development needs.
- Create a positive, professional and encouraging learning environment.
- Ensure players follow all on-ice and facility safety procedures.
- Communicate professionally with players, parents, teams and other staff members.
- Assist with camps, clinics, team practices and other Cutting Edge programs.
- Help with setup and cleanup before and after training sessions.
- Represent Cutting Edge professionally both on and off the ice.
Qualifications
- Strong hockey background with competitive playing or coaching experience.
- Previous experience coaching or instructing children and youth players is preferred.
- Strong skating ability and the ability to demonstrate skills effectively.
- Good understanding of modern hockey skills and player-development methods.
- Excellent communication, leadership and organizational skills.
- Positive, patient and dependable.
- Comfortable working with players of different ages and ability levels.
- Able to work independently and as part of a coaching team.
- Available to work evenings, weekends and during school holidays.
- Must provide a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Coaching certifications, First Aid/CPR training and Safe Sport training are considered assets.
