We are seeking an experienced Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to join our engineering team. The successful candidate will support the development and execution of instrumentation and control system designs for industrial projects, with a focus on SAGD and oil and gas facilities. This role requires strong technical expertise in process instrumentation, control systems, vendor coordination, and project execution from engineering design through commissioning and start-up.

Apply sound knowledge of instrumentation and control engineering principles, industry standards, and best practices to support project design and execution.

Provide I&C engineering and design expertise to multidisciplinary project teams throughout all phases of project delivery.

Select, specify, and develop technical requirements for process measurement and control instrumentation based on project needs.

Prepare instrument and control valve Material Requisition Packages (MRQs), complete technical bid evaluations, and issue purchase requisitions.

Review, evaluate, and provide technical comments on vendor documentation for instrumentation and mechanical equipment packages.

Perform instrument engineering calculations and sizing activities, including control valves, pressure relief valves, flow measurement devices, differential pressure level applications, and other field instrumentation.

Develop instrumentation and controls engineering deliverables, including control narratives, Cause & Effect (C&E) matrices, panel layouts, loop drawings, I/O lists, and P&IDs.

Collaborate with DCS and PLC programming teams to support system design, configuration, integration, and troubleshooting activities.

Prepare construction work packages, scopes of work, and engineering documentation required for project execution.

Participate in multidisciplinary design reviews and provide technical recommendations to ensure project requirements are met.

Interface with clients during project meetings, HAZOP reviews, and technical discussions while ensuring alignment with client specifications and standards.

Support commissioning, start-up, and system turnover activities, including participation in Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and Site Acceptance Tests (SATs).

Ensure compliance with company procedures, engineering standards, quality requirements, and applicable regulations throughout project execution.

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, Controls, or related engineering discipline.

Minimum of 5 years of Instrumentation & Controls engineering experience, preferably supporting SAGD projects, well pads, Central Processing Facilities (CPF), and Once-Through Steam Generator (OTSG) facilities.

Strong technical knowledge of process instrumentation, including flow measurement devices, control valves, analyzers, sample conditioning systems, and other field measurement technologies.

Experience with variable speed drives, pumps, and electrical system interfaces related to instrumentation and controls applications.

Proven ability to independently review instrument bid packages, evaluate vendor submissions, and provide technical recommendations.

Hands-on experience with industrial control systems, including Emerson DeltaV Distributed Control System (DCS).

Strong understanding of industrial communication networks, control devices, and instrumentation protocols.

Demonstrated experience delivering projects through multiple phases, including Design Basis Memorandum (DBM), Engineering Design Specification (EDS), detailed engineering, pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up, and system turnover.

Excellent organizational, communication, troubleshooting, and technical documentation skills.

Ability to work independently while effectively coordinating with domestic and international vendors, contractors, and project stakeholders.

Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to contribute effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced project environment.

Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in good standing with APEGA.

Willingness to work occasional overtime as required to support project execution schedules.
