The aim of the Wilp D’Mootxw – Nec’a Yikh “ The Healing House” is to improve access to primary health care services and traditional wellness services for First Nations people in a way that is culturally safe and closer to home.
Title: Licensed Practical Nurse, Primary Care
Salary: $67,840 - $80,817 per year (pay range explained below)
Contract: This term position ending March 2027 with the FNHA has the possibility of extension. When the term position ends with the FNHA, it is intended that this
position will be offered as a permanent role with the Wilp D’Mootxw – Nec’a Yikh “ The Healing House” Centre Primary Care Clinic.
Hours: 37.5 hours (core hours 9am-3pm Mon-Fri)
Location: Hazelton, BC

About the role As Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Primary Care, you will be part of a supportive, multidisciplinary team delivering trauma-informed, culturally safe care to clients across all stages of life. You will help promote, maintain, and restore health in a respectful and collaborative environment. You will be expected to follow the standards set and work within the scope of practice set for LPNs in the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
About you
To be successful in this role you will have/be –
Education and Occupational Certifications
-
A recognized Diploma in Practical Nursing.
-
Current practicing registration as an LPN with the BCCNM.
-
Current certifications in CPR and Advanced Foot Care, or willingness to obtain.
-
Completion of an Advanced Nursing Foot Care training program is an asset.
Experience
-
Min. 2 years of recent and relevant experience delivering health services in a First Nations setting.
-
Experience in foot care is an asset.
Knowledge
-
Strong understanding of trauma-informed care and cultural safety and humility, with the ability to apply these approaches in diverse clinical settings.

Knowledge of First Nations cultures, principles, and protocols, including traditional healing practices and how cultural context influences health and communication.

Familiarity with trans-cultural nursing concepts and the health challenges faced by rural and remote communities.

Solid grasp of nursing theory, the nursing process, and professional standards, including relevant legislation and health system policies.

Awareness of health inequities, determinants of health, and the full spectrum of care—from health promotion, disease prevention, rehabilitation, and palliative and urgent care.
