The Town of Huntsville is currently seeking two (2) motivated and enthusiastic Summer Students – Public Works to join our Public Works team for the summer season. Reporting to the Operations Foreman, the successful candidate will assist with a variety of operational and maintenance activities that contribute to the safety, cleanliness, and overall upkeep of municipal infrastructure and public spaces.
What You Will Do
- Assist with general road and roadside maintenance activities.
- Support traffic control operations during maintenance and construction projects.
- Perform general labour duties, including litter collection, vegetation management, brush clearing, and grounds maintenance.
- Assist with pothole repairs and other municipal infrastructure projects.
- Operate hand tools and equipment safely and effectively.
- Support departmental operations with general administrative and customer service-related tasks as required.
- Adhere to all health and safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What We Are Looking For
- Currently enrolled in, or recently completed, a secondary or post-secondary education program.
- Valid Ontario Class G Driver's Licence in good standing.
- Must have or be willing to obtain Book 7 training certification.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong work ethic with a willingness to perform physical labour in various weather conditions.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Experience operating equipment, using hand tools, or performing outdoor labour is considered an asset.
- Must provide and wear CSA-approved safety footwear.
This position starts mid-June and concludes September 3, 2026 and the hourly rate is $17.60.
