Our client, one of Canada’s largest seafood distributors is looking for a talented maintenance technician team leader to join their team in Etobicoke.
Salary: $90,000-$100,000
Vacation: 3 weeks
Bonus: up to 10%
Job Summary:
The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance of their automated fish filleting machine as well as the general maintenance of the manufacturing facility. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and automation systems, with a hands-on approach to ensuring all equipment and building systems operate efficiently and safely.
Key Responsibilities:
Equipment & Machinery
- Perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on the automated fish filleting machine and associated automation systems (conveyors, sensors, pneumatics, etc.).
- Calibrate and adjust machinery for optimal operation and product quality.
- Implement and follow preventive maintenance schedules and logs for all production equipment.
- Quickly respond to equipment breakdowns or failures to minimize downtime.
Building Maintenance
- Conduct regular inspections and upkeep of facility systems, including lighting, HVAC, plumbing, and safety equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair facility electrical issues (lighting, control panels, circuits).
- Perform basic plumbing, carpentry, and structural repairs as needed.
- Coordinate with external contractors for specialized work when necessary.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Adhere to all safety, food safety, and sanitation standards within a food production environment.
- Ensure all maintenance work complies with relevant regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and parts used.
Team & Communication
- Collaborate with production staff to understand equipment performance issues.
- Communicate clearly with supervisors and management regarding maintenance needs and improvement suggestions.
- Participate in training and cross-functional team meetings as required.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Proven experience as an electromechanical technician, industrial maintenance technician, or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing both mechanical and electrical systems.
- Experience working with automated machinery, PLCs, and basic industrial controls.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics, manuals, and technical documentation.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Preferred:
- Experience in food processing or seafood manufacturing.
- Familiarity with food safety regulations.
- Trade certification or associate degree in electromechanical technology, industrial maintenance, or related field.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Must be comfortable working in cold, wet, or humid environments typical of seafood processing facilities.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform tasks at heights or in confined spaces.
- Must be available for on-call or weekend shifts, as needed.
