The Assistant Service Manager is responsible for the customer sensitive, efficient and profitable operation of the Dealership’s service department. They carry out this responsibility by building customer relationships, operating the department at maximum productivity, creating a good working environment and properly managing the assets of the department
Responsibilities:
- Deal with or report to Dealership management any situation or condition that jeopardizes the safety, welfare or integrity of the dealership.
- Train the service staff to promote customer satisfaction.
- Instill pride of workmanship in every service employee.
- Ensure that customer inconveniences, misunderstandings and complaints are dealt with fairly and quickly.
- Generate and continually strive to increase labour sales.
- Set individual and total shop sales objectives.
- Hire and train service advisors.
- Working hand in hand with the marketing department to plan and execute an ongoing service advertising program
- Review the sales performance of the service advisors and evaluate and train on an ongoing basis.
- Determine shop staffing requirements.
- Hire and maintain a technical production staff that can perform all types of required service work sold by the Dealership.
- Ensure that all the necessary shop equipment is available, is properly maintained and in safe working condition
- Determine shop capacity and set targets for pre-booked appointments.
- Review time clocking practices on an ongoing basis and correct as required.
- Ensure that all required technical publications (manuals, bulletins etc.) are received, properly stored and kept up to date.
- “Process Map” all functions in the service department and create Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).
- Ensure that service staff is dressed in a professional manner, including the use of uniforms.
- Know and understand the distributor’s warranty policies and procedures.
- Ensure that all service employees arrive at and depart from work at the established times.
- Report to Dealership management any situation or condition that jeopardizes the safety, welfare or integrity of the Dealership
- Maintain a high level of shop cleanliness and equipment condition.
- Analyze and eliminate practices that waste time, supplies, space and money.
Candidate requirements:
- 10 years experience in a dealership environment
- 3 years experience in management or supervisory role
- High degree of computer literacy
- Good critical thinking skills
- Ability to stay calm under pressure
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
