RBW Waste Management is ISO and COR certified hazardous waste recycling company focused on continual improvement in safety, environmental practices, sustainability and quality. RBW is seeking a highly motivated and safety-focused Plant Operations & Logistics Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of our hazardous waste recycling facility in South Edmonton. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient plant operations while coordinating inbound and outbound logistics, supervising personnel, and driving continuous operational and safety improvements.
The ideal candidate is an experienced operations leader with a background in industrial manufacturing, waste management, chemical processing, or environmental services who thrives in a fast-paced, environmentally conscious, safety-critical environment. This position requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills and demonstrates compassion, respect and the ability to adapt their communication style to effectively lead a diverse workforce with varying education, skill and verbal and written communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
Plant Operations
- Supervise daily plant operations to ensure safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant processing of hazardous waste materials
- Coordinate plant workflows to maximize productivity and meet customer orders
- Monitor equipment performance and coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance activities
- Ensure procedures are followed and look for continuous improvement strategies
- Maintain accurate production, inventory, and records
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for facility operations
- Coordinate onsite heavy equipment use as required for seasonal yard maintenance and loading of end dumps
Logistics & Transportation
- Coordinate safe loading and efficiently dispatch three full time Class I Drivers
- Coordinate and schedule bulk loads of outbound recycled products and residual waste ensuring they meet vendor and regulatory requirements
- Create appropriate paperwork to meet TDG regulations and ensure trucks are loaded and strapped appropriately to meet DOT requirements
- Coordinate loading trucks and trailers to maintain inventory levels at two remote warehouses
- Work closely with customers, suppliers, and transport providers to ensure timely deliveries and pickups.
Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance
- Promote a strong safety culture through leadership and accountability
- Ensure compliance with Alberta Occupational Health and Safety legislation, environmental regulations, and company policies
- Conduct and document regular toolbox safety meetings with each department, perform inspections, aid in incident investigations, and corrective action implementation
- Ensure employees receive appropriate training, perform job observations and determine competency of Plant Employees and Drivers in respect to tasks, procedures, tools and equipment
- Support emergency response planning and environmental protection initiatives
Qualifications
Required
- 5+ years of supervisory experience in industrial operations, manufacturing, recycling, chemical processing, hazardous waste management or similar industry
- Strong understanding of plant operations and logistics coordination
- Knowledge of hazardous waste handling practices and regulatory compliance
- Experience leading multifaceted operations
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License
Preferred
- Education in Management or Dispatch
- Experience in hazardous waste recycling or environmental services
- Knowledge of Alberta environmental regulations
- Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Certification
- First Aid Certification
- Forklift certification
