Corma is currently searching for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer. The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer is required to apply the principles of engineering, physics, and material science for the development, design, analysis, manufacturing, and maintenance of mechanical systems.
Responsibilities:
- Research and analyze data such as customer design proposals and specifications to determine design concepts and solutions.
- Develop design solutions and evaluate based on expected performance, manufacturability, assembly and serviceability.
- Create detailed drawings of mechanical components and systems.
- Work in tandem with electrical and controls engineers to ensure the functionality and completeness of the design output.
- Participate in project management tasks such as design reviews, status reporting, and team meetings.
- Discuss and solve problems with manufacturing, sub-contractors, suppliers, and customers.
- Participate in first-off assemblies, validation, and present design to sales and production.
- Coordinate or support activities involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair of custom mechanical or electromechanical systems.
- Provide direction and/or support to the field service technicians.
- Check and review designs and drawings of junior personnel for completeness, accuracy, and technical soundness.
- Create and maintain BOMs as well as other documentation where required.
- Follow in-house standards related to design and documentation.
- Other duties where required as determined by management.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong independent work ability: able to self-organize and own design process from conception through to detail design
- Brings a creative approach to provide innovative solutions to technical problems
- Proficient in 3D CAD, with 2D CAD and FEA an asset
- Good understanding of manufacturing and machining processes
- Problem-solving and project management skills
- Motivated to solve technical challenges
- Experienced in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Education & Experience Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
- 6 years of machine design experience
- P. Eng. is considered an asset
