Building Futures is looking for a Day Support Counsellor to support adults with disabilities in living active, meaningful, and connected lives. What You'll Do As a Day Support Counsellor, you will provide respectful, person-directed support that promotes independence, choice, and community inclusion.
Your responsibilities include:
- Supporting participants in recreation, leisure, and community activities.
- Encouraging independence, friendships, and personal growth.
- Planning and participating in activities, outings, and special events.
- Supporting participants during times of anxiety or resolving conflict.
- Assisting with personal care, meals, medication administration, and mobility support.
- Safely transporting participants to community activities.
- Maintaining accurate records and communicating with families, coworkers, and service providers.
- Helping maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment.
- Following health and safety procedures and reporting hazards or concerns.

You'll spend most of your day on your feet, participating alongside participants in community and activities.
You should be comfortable:
- Walking and standing throughout the day.
- Assisting with mobility, transfers, and personal care.
- Pushing wheelchairs and supporting participants in the community.
- Bending, reaching, lifting, and carrying equipment.
- Regularly lifting up to 15 kg and occasionally up to 23 kg.
- Working indoors and outdoors in all seasons.
Your enthusiasm and energy help create meaningful experiences and encourageparticipants to stay active and engaged.
Qualifications:
- Human Services diploma or related education, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience supporting adults with disabilities is an asset.
- Valid driver's licence, clean driver's abstract, reliable vehicle, with $2 million liability insurance.
- Strong communication, teamwork, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft 365.

Hours of Work:
Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:00
Potential for scheduled shifts in the evening and on weekends.

Pay: From $51,500.00 per year
